Bio

She was left at the temple as a baby, by proud and hopeful parents, because of a positive test performed on all babies born to Core World parents.

She grew up surrounded by peace and order (and a small green menace with a stick).

She joined a sect of her peers, and then a sect of a sect, one that seemed radical at the time.

And then the universe changed, the rightful order of things ripped apart.

Suddenly, 'radical' became 'life-saving', And Laranth Tarak became one of the few surviving Force-adept and trained sentients left after Flame Night, after the newly-arisen Sith Lord turned her peaceful and order-loving home into a charred slaughterhouse.

Laranth Tarak is a Jedi Paladin, most notably one of the Gray Paladins - an offshoot of the Teepo Paladins, a sect of the Jedi who had been censured by the Council years ago before the universe changed as too extremists, a possible source of darkside users.

Teepo Paladins believed that Jedi should be able to use all weapons at their disposal, and that lightsabers, rather than being a symbol, were just another tool. The Teepos were deeply devout, however, and despite advocating the use of blasters and other, more widely-used weapons, they sought oneness with the Force.

The Grays went one step further. They believed the Jedi had become too reliant on the Force for their own protection. They devoted time and energy into learning a multitude of fighting styles, both armed an unarmed, all of which to learn how to handle themselves without relying on the Force's power. How could they be servants of the Force, if they relied on it for everything?
The Gray Paladins were a deeply militaristic sect, and while the Council officially censured them, they would also send these well-trained warriors on missions, sometimes supporting official Jedi Knights in dangerous areas.

When Darth Vader destroyed the Jedi, the Teepo and Gray Paladins suffered as well. Only twelve Gray Paladins survived. This is one.

Laranth Tarak is a twi'lek female, green-skinned, and very dangerous. She dresses more like a Corellian pirate than a Jedi Knight, and is armed like one - blasters and grenades for her, since she doesn't actually own a lightsaber.
She isn't exactly the most verbose woman ever - long years of training in various strenuous martial arts doesn't lend towards a chatty attitude, but when she does speak, she reveals that she has a sharp sarcastic streak.
While the Jedi may have thought poorly of the Gray Paladin order, they can't fault this one on loyalty. One of the organizers of the Whiplash, the underground system of houses and transports used to get Jedi off of Coruscant, she daily puts her life on the line for the very men and women who once looked down their noses at her.

Appearance: Laranth is a green-skinned Twi'lek, with lekku and all, though the left was shortened by a few inches thanks to a stray blaster bolt that got through her defenses. When she first comes into the bar, it will be before Flame Night, but afterwards she'll earn herself some extensive scarring on her neck and right cheek.

Laranth Tarak is from 'Star Wars: Jedi Twilight', and is the property of Michael Reaves. She appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in [info]milliways_bar, from which no profit whatsoever is being made.
